A Weekend on the Runway

This weekend I had the unexpected opportunity to model, on the runway, in a fashion line designed by my talented friend Jason Gagnon. His line was based on the artwork of Zao Wou-Ki. When he asked me originally I just kind of laughed awkwardly and reminded him that I am 5'2" (on a good day) and have more of an hourglass/pear shape than a.. I don't know, celery stick? I'm not sure what proper fruit is used to describe a tall slender build, haha.

He told me I would be wearing flats and that he was designing for petite "real" women this year, and that was enough to convince me that I should give it a go. I am so glad I did! I don't plan on going into modeling any time soon, but it was fun to play dress up and be sassy on the runway!

On the day before the show he switched up the garment I was wearing, and all of a sudden I was wearing something a lot sexier than I originally planned! It worked out well though because the dress gave me the extra boost of sass that I was looking for when it came to attitude on stage! At first it felt like I was just skipping and frolicking about the runway until I really got into character.

The make-up was so much fun! Look at this lipstick, when would I ever be able to wear this any other time?

The line is gorgeous and he hand painted the patterned fabric, can you believe it? He is so amazingly talented! I met him a few years ago in a watercolor class we took together. After the show I had several friends come up and ask how I managed to get into one of the best designers collections.. Just lucky I guess! :)

It was also a big night for my roommate Kaitlin because she won the Collection of the Year award and a yearlong mentorship under Daniel Vosovic from Project Runway Season 2! She is so talented and always working so hard on her creations, it was well earned! I was literally crying backstage when they announced her name as the winner! Not only did she design an amazing collection, but she produced the show!

What a great weekend! I had to share with all of you! I fear my modeling days are numbered {due to the fact that after each day I came home and ate brownies and pizza with Will - what's better than that?!} but it sure was a fun adventure!

Have you guys ever gotten to do anything crazy like this? If you ever get the chance - you have to DO IT! You'll have a blast and feel great about yourself, I promise! :)

Wishing you a lovely little day!
